Logo Design

I designed The Burren Logo using the symbol of a Portal Dolmen (used in ancient celtic rituals). This portal dolmen stands in a rocky expanse in the west of Ireland called the Burren.
....
When the owners opened a second bar several years later and called it The Skellig, after a small Island off the coast of Kerry, I designed a similar logo of one of the islands to connect the two bars, which have a very similar style.
....
The third bar, The Shaskeen, opened in 2005, again with the style and feel of the other two bars, so I continued with a logo to further this connection. This logo depicts the meaning of the Shaskeen, an Irish word for a barren marshy place.
.........................The west of Ireland has

many bogs and marshes and this image of a wind mangled bog shrub was the one image, that for me, summed up the harsh landscape of these barren areas.
The Druid is a bar in Cambridge that changed hands in 2004 and while retaining the name of the bar, the owner wanted to update the look. I created this logo using an image representing a druid, a pagan priest from ancient celtic lore. Other elements for this bar included restroom signs depicting a Pagan priestess and a celtic warrior.
