Irish Stately Homes & Castles

This series originated during my final year in college, when I was living in Dublin. At weekends I would visit these estates from a bygone era, some preserved and open to the public, others in a sorry state of disrepair. But no matter the condition, each place had its own sense of grandeur and exuded a timelessness that has endured for hundreds of years.

I only completed about 7 paintings that year before moving to America. However, each year I returned to Ireland and continued to visit the estates. Several years later, I exhibited the entire series of about 13 paintings in a month long exhibit at the Newton (MA) Public Library.

All Paintings in this series are gouache on board and are 18" X 11"
